Divorce marriage expenses being claimed by wife

09-Sep-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Sir My wife is claiming for her marriage expenses how do I proceed? I am ready to return her ornaments as per he request and this is divorce by mutual consent. Do you think I am liable for this expense. The divorce was filed by her. We are Hindu. Kindly suggest. Regards T. Karthikeya

In certain cases it is possible. If it is mutual divorce then give it and clear the be tension free. Going for courts expensive and time consuming.if u feel it is heavier then bargain or share the expenses.

Hi
In general in a mutual consent divorce, you should look at your total cost(monies that you are giving to your wife) rather than line by line item.
Even in case of contested divorce, marriage expenses are not granted to the wife, even if the husband is at fault.
So , you need to negotiate hard. Also since the Divorce is filed by her, you are actually doing a favour by agreeing for Mutual consent divorce and hence you need to be cautious in your negotiations.
