Divorce in India for UK citizens?

27-Mar-2024 (In Divorce Law)
I have one property in UK in both our names and there is a property in chemnai and land in his name only. I have 8 year old girl. He's trying to hide India assets and saying 50/50 for UK asset. I wanted to apply divorce in chennai. Is that possible and if so do we need to come every time? How much it costs? Thanks

hi alocious here I can well understand your concern from the query raised, yes the petition for divorce can be applied in either place, and you can file seeking for alimony or share of his property in India, you will have to visit the court for deposition statements, rest should not be a problem, also would like to know the status of the custody of the child, you can contact me for further clarifications, thank you

if the marriage is conducted in Indian soil and you are an Indian citizen, you can apply for Divorce In India. As for as chennai is concerned , it is a family court and the presence of the party is necessary. However, you can appear through a power agent and Video conferencing. There are certain rules for video conferencing.
