Divorce for dowry..please provide an early solution...................

31-Mar-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Hi, could you please tell me if the groom asks about the Kanyadan money from the bride, will that be counted as dowry? Also, only 1 month prior to our wedding he asked me to change the gift of my father-in-law from Ring to Gold chain, does that also signifies dowry?

Yes…all the things you have mentioned is a clear sign of demanding dowry. Any gold or silver articles given on the comments of the groom side is considered as dowry. But the furniture and the articles which was in the name of the bride remains her property and is known as stridhan. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

Anything bestowed from the free will of the party or purely as a gift cannot be counted as dowry. However, if the same is done through coercion it will be considered a dowry.

Kanyadan money and jewellery shall be of the wife alone. Specifically, jewellery comes under Stree Dhan.
