Divorce as Husband not looking after the family

We are married for 17+ years, first, he was good but then from the past 7 to 10 years, he is not at all looking after the family. He seldom sends money for our expenses. Our daughter is in 10th std and he sometimes pays the school fees but other expenses are to be born by me. I am working as a private nurse. He is playing a double game by staying at his house when we have arguments and comes here if he has a problem in his house.
He is now addicted to drinking and even starting abusing and beating. Our child is very depressed, it can affect her boards. We are staying at my sisters' house from10+years. Now I am thinking of going to divorce and informed him. He threatened me of dire consequences and said, he will be in jail but won't pay a penny. What should I do ?
Hello you can first issue him a legal notice and demand a peaceful divorce and also file domestic violence case against him and other members if they are too involved to harass you.
you can demand expenses for yourself and your daughter too.
