Divorce alimony and maintenance by wife..................

Can a wife claim anything from the husbands parents property. Also if the husband has bank balance , can wife claim anything from the same.

A Hindu wife has hardly any right on the property of her husband during his lifetime. The right of the wife is limited for claiming maintenance and place of residence only from the husband. Even in the divorce proceedings, the wife can only claim maintenance or alimony from the husband but no share in his immovable or movable property unless it is jointly owned by both. The right to claim the share in the property of the husband arises only after his death.

If the wife is not earning and have no source of income to manage herself then the husband is liable to maintain the wife after divorce till the time the wife gets a job! Our team can further help you with your problem after knowing it in detail.
