delay in FIR for domestic abuse due to fear of husband

03-Feb-2023 (In Divorce Law)
HI. I had been in a very abusive relationship for 3 years with my husband. (physical, emotional & financially). i did not lodge an FIR hoping for a better future if he changed as he promised to do so after every episode of violence. i moved out of his house in July 2021.. he continues visiting our child in my house however i always feel scared and threatened. can i file an FIR against him now? i have all evidences with respect to the abuse till date(photographs, messages, bank statement etc). is it too late now?

no, you can justify the delay. for physical abuse, immediate reporting and/or some medical report/certificate is always an added advantage. But you can set law in motion, if your relationship has reached a rock bottom. Do get in touch if you need professional assistance in your case

Hello, this is clear case of domestic violence and 498A of IPC You can register FIR based on your evidences and if police don’t entertain you then approach high rank police officer for getting FIR registered against him
