Is this a real time query or just an academic one. The query do not provide any material facts as to the matrimonial dispute or problem, if any.

Anyhow, Counselling is part of the procedure followed by Family Courts while handling matrimonial disputes. Couples in strained relationship have the choice of approaching informal counselling as well. Rest of the queries are merely speculative and there are no legal elements involved.

In the court you don't go for applying for the counseling. Once the case is filed and if both parties are present both have to go for counselling which is conducted by the court itself. If one party is absent the counselling will be postponed to the next hearing date of the case.

Dear Client,
The question has come under the head Divorce Law. As per the procedure after filing an OP for divorce of any kind, immediately on appearance of the first posting date in Court, the court usually post the case after 6 months, with in this period the counselling will be over. Usually thee will be 3 counselling sessions. If any party fails to attend, this matter shall be recorded and further date will be given and after 3 chances the file will be returned to Court and the case will be called in Open Court and proceed accordingly. The effectiveness of the counselling can not be calculated , it will differ from case to case depending up on the attitude of the parties.
