Dear Sir, If there is lot of difference then only to maintain the equal status some maintenance will be allowed or alimony will be allowed to the wife. However, both husband and wife liable to bear 50% of expenses childrens education and maintenance etc., irrespective of their status in the Society as Government servants.

If both husband and wife are working on equal post and earnings equally them maintenance does not lie it is generally it's not granted by the court. Court gives maintenance from the father side to the kids .if mother is working then she also has to contribute in the maintenance of the child. depends where child is staying with which parent. Regarding the permanent alimony to the wife it is discretionary of the court after appreciating all the facts of the case it also depends on how nicely your case is being presented by your lawyer to defensive that she is not liable for any permanent alimony.
