04-Apr-2023 (In Divorce Law)
can a wife get alimony if the husband has never supported her financially and he has never worked in a marriage of 20+years...he is very much physically fit to work...he has rcvd money after selling property that too he spent over lakhs on cars and bikes but denies financial support to wife and child..so if I file a divorce case can I get alimony...I've always been a working lady but now I'm not working anymore...the whole family believes that the wife's expenses is supposed to be spend by the wife...they do not even provide for clothes or daily food...

surely you would be eligible for maintenance irrespective of your working status if your husband is fit and able. since now that you have lost your job you are better poised as far as maintenance is concerned. your husband's total assets and liabilities in the form of an affidavit will bring a clearer picture before the. court to adjudge the quantum of maintenance that you would be entitled to.

obviously being a wife you are entitle to maintenance as per your and your husband's Lifestyle but for that you have to follow the due process of law and you have to file a case for maintenance before the appropriate forum. what your husband or his other family members thinks or believes that doesn't matter atall. Thank You...
