Absolute Decree received from UK court

11-Mar-2024 (In Divorce Law)
I got an Absolute decree from UK court last month. As my wife delay the proceeding of Absolute decree since Jan 2020, I had requested the court to grant me the divorce. The judge heard both sides of the argument and granted me the Absolute decree based on the delay and no action taken by my wife since Jan 2020. My marriage happened in Mumbai (2003) and we moved to UK (now UK citizens). My question here is that do I need to register my divorce in Mumbai family court ?

For registering any Divorce which is granted in a reciprocating country You have to file Declaratory suit. Whereas ,if the Divorce is granted by non reciprocating country then you will have to follow normal course of Fivorce proceedings in Mumbai Family court.

Well, the Divorce Decrees of Foreign Jurisdictions are well recognised and acceptable in India by the Indian Judiciary. Hence, there is no need for you to separately register your Divorce in India by either reporting to the Registrar of Marriages or by running a case in Court to register your Divorce in India.
