You filed an FIR under Section 498A against your husband and in-laws on 14 July 2025, but they have not appeared before the police until 15 August. Now, they have been issued a final notice to appear on 20 August. If they still fail to appear, the police can take stricter action. The Investigating Officer (IO) may approach the court to issue a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against them, and if they continue to evade, proclamation proceedings under Section 82 of the CrPC can also be initiated. Although the police generally prefer to record their statements during the investigation, if they refuse to cooperate, this will be mentioned in the report as “non-cooperation,” and the chargesheet can still be filed based on your evidence.
