Using photoshop without license downloaded by independent contractor

My friend is using Adobe photoshop for commercial purpose he is using the software without license and through cracking serial key it came in to the notice of Adobe photo shop company. The adobe photoshop software was downloaded into the computer of my friend via an "independent contractor". What will be the consequences now? Is he liable? what should he do? what if he deletes the software? will he be still liable for the penalty?
first of all they can warn you, if they send any kind of legal notice then your friend have to face legal proceeding under copy right act with IT act. this is all because your friend is using a PIRATED VERSION of the above said software and piracy is a crime in india.
