Call received by a police officer asking to pay fine for asking nudes

03-Apr-2023 (In Cyber Crime Law)
My brother received a call from someone who said he was speaking from Delhi police. He said a complaint has been received against him asking girls for nudes and he sent me the screenshots. I asked my brother and he said that he downloaded some app from playstore. He saved the numbers shared on that app and chatted on WhatsApp. He never asked for nudes. But it was received from the other party first. Now the fake or real police is asking for around 7000 rupees online in the name of fine or if it is not paid online complaint would be lodged against him. He said my brother would be imprisoned if a complaint is lodged. My brother is a college student and we all have become scared because of the call. Please tell us what to do.

You need not worry as it’s just a trap to fetch out money from innocent people. You can always serve them a legal notice on their respective number regarding this harassment and simultaneously forward a complaint in writing to the police station of your area for your records. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.
