22-Jan-2025 (In Cyber Crime Law)
Hi, one person who was a friend 6years ago texted me in snapchat and starting texting closley and asked for private picture i shared and then it came out to be her husband and started blackmailing that he would go to my parents and spoil our name in society and complain in police station and asked for 30k i gave, later started asking for 500000, and called my home what can i do? unable to lodge a complaint in cyber crime portal.
You should immediately go to your nearest police station or cybercrime cell and file a written complaint with all the proof like screenshots, chat messages, call logs, and payment details. What the person has done—asking for private pictures and then blackmailing for money—is a crime. If you're unable to file the complaint online, doing it in person is the best way. Clearly tell the police that someone is threatening to defame you and demanding money. If the local police don't help, you can give a complaint to the District SP or file a complaint in the local court asking the police to take action. Acting fast will help stop the blackmail and protect you legally.
