What is the duration to apply Defamation case

Hi team,nI had applied for Divorce - My wife and her family people harassed and defamation in my place 15-7-2022.What is the duration to apply Defamation case ?nIf they apply DV and Dowry case what could be the next Action from our end ?

if they file case of dowry or 498A the first step would be to get a bail and produce all the records you have to the concerned police station, they will investigate the case and final a report, thereafter you can deal with it as per your advocates advise, further if they file a domestic violence case you have to file your say or objection and contest it by producing the evidence that you have and defence that you have mentioning the contents of your divorce petition filed by you. if your name etc is defamed and intend to file case you have to file a private complaint in court.
