Threats to kill on different places on different occasions.

07-Jul-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I am a govt. employee working with ministry of home affairs. I don't want to live with my wife as she committed cruelties on me and got me beaten mercilessly on 24 December 2021. On 31 December her brother threatened me to kill when i refused to take divorce on stamp paper and give money in cash. On 05 July 2022, he threatened me again to kill me. Both the incidents happened on different places. At what place i can register FIR? Can now FIR be registered?

Hi, Based on your query it would appear that you can file a police complaint against your wife for cruelty and grievous hurt, and additionally, criminal intimidation against her brother. You may register this FIR at your local police station which you can ascertain by dialling 100. Please feel free to contact me for any further assistance.

File FIR at police station which has jurisdiction over the place where threat was made. How was threat made and what evidence do you have of it? If the threat was accompanied with demand of property/cash then it is a case of extortion. You can file complaint concerning the threat made on 5 July and mention the earlier threat in complaint. File for divorce citing cruelty.

You should immediately approach the police for the registration of FIR. That’s the continuing offence and even now the FIR can be registered. The FIR can be registered at any place where the incident took place. It can also be registered with your residential address. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.
