The police filed a false 420 case against me 6 months ago and sent a letter to my bank to freeze my account. Despite obtaining bail in the matter, my account remains frozen. Bank officials insist on a court order to unfreeze it, but the police refuse to provide one. Do the police have the authority to freeze an account without a court order, and for how long can they do so? What does the Supreme Court say about freezing bank accounts?

Move the application in the trail court which passed order for freezing bank account. The Police has no powers to issue letter for unfreezing the bank account as that was done by under the Court order. Police is just the party in the criminal complaint case which plays the role of the complainant nothing more, all powers to pass order is with the court only.

In a 420 case police has power to freez an account for purpose of investigatin if such is related with case. Only bail is no ground to unfreez account. An account can unfreez only with the order of court. You can move an application to the concern court.

police have no right to freez any bank account without court permission/order. it donot matter whether you on bail or not. you can aproach to the court for unfreez your account or you have wait untill you found innocent in the present case.
