Suspicious death. Filing objection/FIR.

13-Sep-2025 (In Criminal Law)
Our daughter died in Jan 2025 in Suspicious condition and incidence reported by 3rd person to police and they hv registered it as sucide case by jumping from 5th floor. However, Circumstancial evidences point it to be a suspected murder case. Police are in investigating. We, parents, hv not filed any seperate FIR/ objections due to certain unusual situation. What is time limit to file FIR/ objections. Can it be done any time in future as it's a very serious matter?

In criminal matters there is no time limit as such for filing and FIR / objection, if you are not satisfied with the charge sheet and once them to investigate for the weekend file a protest petition against the chart sheet or if you want them to investigate for the on the current charge sheet you need to file an application for further investigation, if your suspicion and the circumstantial evidence is enough to say that it was a suspected murder then you can always approach High Court for registering FIR or any other remedies

In case you are having doubts about the police investigation, you can first approach the police directly and ask them to take up investigation in XYZ way and help them with any important documents (if you have). If you feel that the police is not investigating properly, then you can approach the Magistrate by filing Complaint under section 156(3) of CrPC requesting for a proper investigation of the case. In case you require any further legal assistance you may contact me.
