Should I be worried about blackmailing?

23-Jun-2024 (In Criminal Law)
I am getting married to a Christian woman under the Special Marriage Act. During a recent argument with the family over some simple misunderstanding, her mother blackmailed me, saying that she had a photo of us together and she could do anything with that like she could file a complaint against me. But I couldn't get any details on what base can she raise a complaint? I feel alarmed by this as there have been no such situations between us where I have done anything illegal. Even the girl agrees

Do you recall any specific threat made to you by the mother? If there is no specific threat made by the mother, then in this current situation there isn't a need to be worried. The photo contains both you and your significant other. Threats like this are made as a direct result of an emotional reaction to the relationship you currently have with your partner. If anything does appear to take place further down the line an Anticipatory Bail can be applied for just to be safe.
