1. Hiring Multiple Lawyers for a Bail Matter: Yes, you can consult with multiple lawyers regarding your bail matter. It is common for clients to seek a second opinion, especially if they are concerned about fees or the approach of a particular lawyer. You have every right to choose an advocate you feel comfortable with, both financially and in terms of strategy. 2. Impact of Consulting a New Lawyer: If you decide to hire a new lawyer, the previous lawyer cannot legally interfere with your case or act against your interests. Ethical rules prohibit a lawyer from taking any action that would harm a former client’s case, even if the client has chosen to switch to another lawyer. If any misconduct occurs, you have the option to file a complaint with the bar association. 3. Opposition to Bail Order by Former Lawyer: Your former lawyer has no legal grounds to oppose a bail order simply because you hired someone else. Bail matters are between you, your lawyer, and the court. If the bail has been granted, the former lawyer cannot legally take any action to reverse it out of spite.
