Procedure after submitting written complaint to police

20-Oct-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I went to a police station to submit a written complaint of offences punishable u/s. 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B against an accused. The police just accepted my complaint and returned its copy with a stamp of the police station. Is that all that is involved after filing a written complaint? I was expecting an FIR to be registered since it is an information regarding Cognizable offence.

Well, you have not written your Complaint in a proper language, hence, Police may have considered your Complaint as Information given to them about commitment of Civil Offences. Hence, they have not registered & converted your Complaint into a FIR.
