Police calling for statement in unrelated case

I had filed a complaint against one employee on behalf of company, that same employee has also got a serious criminal case against him after he left job, now police are asking me to give a statement against him in that other case which i have no knowledge of .. i dont want to be involved in this.. can i deny giving statement in this unrelated case

yes, you can deny that if your unaware of the incident you can't give wrong statement if police person are forcing then you can deny that if they are not ready to accept that you can approach thier higher authority regarding this issue.
