My friend took money and is not returning it.

13-Aug-2023 (In Criminal Law)
In lockdown I helped my friend as he was jobless. I gave him my credit card and he withdrawn money to his Paytm account. Total amount is 4 lakhs. Now he is not returning it. Bank is sending me legal notice and coming to my home. What action I can take on him legally and what could be the outcome of it. Can I file FIR on him.

Generally police don't file FIR in such circumstances and rather ask the complainant to approach court through a civil suit. As you lent him money and you may be having proofs to that regards then you may file private criminal case against him. You may also file suit for recovery of money and the damages.

Regarding legal action, you can register FIR with your local police station against your friend. You can also file a recovery suit in court. However, both the things will take time and is a process. You won't get any instant recovery or relief.
