11-Jul-2023 (In Criminal Law)
A friend of mine has forget his mobile in a shop ,when he returned to shop he doesn't found his shop.He search it everywhere but was unable to find it after that at last he called the police.when the police came ,the shop owner in fear takes my name without any proof as I was also present during that time. Then the police ask me and note down my name and number , previously they had noted down the shop owner ,name and number also and told my friend to go to the police station and lodge an fir .But as he was my friend ,he doesn't mention my name in the fir and next day his phone was mysteriously found outside his door where he stays. So he again goes back to the police station and takes back his complaint.I want to ask that the police which noted my name and number in his register will be counted as a criminal record against me.As I am a college student and I want to know. Can you please help?

Dont worry nothing will happen against you as someone very close to your friend has returned the phone. The fir if lodged will be closed after issuing closure report. Theirfore dont worry at all. However if the police wants to make investgation further then can do surveillance of your mob and shop owners mob and if you were active at that time when mobile was found and if you are involved you be arrested, then seek a anticipatory bail
