missing person case to crime branch transfer

Under what circumstances does a missing person's case is handed over to the crime branch? One of my relative and her two kids are missing for last 10 days with no trail, how would police investigation proceed further in this scenario?

File a Habeas Corpus petition before High Court then High Court will direct the Authorities to take that matter seriously and about that issue you may take a consultation then I'll explain properly about this case.
