Messed up FIR for phone theft – urgent help

31-Oct-2025 (In Criminal Law)
Hi, my phone got stolen. In panic, I filed an online FIR but entered wrong IMEI (my other phone). Next day, went to the station. Lady officer said “file another report with correct IMEI”. I misunderstood and filed a second online FIR with correct IMEI. Now she’s very angry, says it should’ve been LR, not FIR Asking me to come at 4 PM – I’m scared. Please tell me: Can police cancel 2nd FIR or punish me?

You cannot be punished for this unless there was an intention to mislead, which is clearly not the case. Cooperate with the officer, explain that you misunderstood her instructions, and carry both acknowledgements. They will regularize it and update the correct IMEI in their system.
