Is it okay to Apologise in the reply to the legal notice?

Hi,nnChairman of our society has issued a Legal notice to many members seeking apology on account of defamation. We had filed complaint with the registrar for irregularities and problems in the society.nnHe issued a lgal notice as one of the points in our complaint against him proved to be wrong...nnIs it okay to apologise in the reply? will it act against us as an evidence for him to file a case later?nnwhat is the safe reply?nnRegards

With regards to your query it is not advisable to give an apology in writing. on the contrary let the other side prove the allegations. if you given apology in writing it will be deemed that you had mistakenly you should the notice which will harm your case.
