Is cousin marriage allowed in hinduism ?

can cousins get married in india? can i marry my cousin in india? I am a hindu guy and attracted towards my first cousin that is fathers brother daughter. If i marry what puniahment i grt under ipc and it this ia right. Please respond quickly This question make me mentally diaturbed as in muslim and christian is valid. So please help me to take good decision for my entire life. is cousin marriage in hinduism legal?

In Hinduism, marriage to a first cousin is generally prohibited under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, specifically under Section 5. This section states that a marriage is invalid if it occurs between individuals who fall within the degrees of prohibited relationship, which typically includes first cousins (children of siblings)

Thus, as per the law in force in India, Hindu cousins cannot get married to each other.
Additionally, such marriage is punishable under Section 18 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 with imprisonment of up to one month and fine of up to one thousand rupees.

Dear sir, under the Hindu Marriage Act as amended at the present time you are not permitted to marry your cousin i.e., your father's brother's daughter, and any such marriage will be treated as a void marriage in the eyes of the law.

Dear Sir, Under the Hindu law, you cannot marry your first cousin. Apart from that, marrying your cousin will carry a social stigma not only for the two of you but your respective families. Your life, choose wisely.

The marriage will be void under Hindu law, as it does not permit marriage within a prohibited degree of relationship or within a sapinda relationship. While conversion to another religion may technically bypass this restriction, it is not advisable, as the Supreme Court has strongly condemned conversions made solely for material or legal advantages. There is no specific punishment for such a marriage, but if the girl later changes her stand under parental pressure, it could create serious legal issues. Any physical relationship may then be construed as rape due to the absence of a valid marriage. Please take your decision wisely, as it may affect your future. If you both genuinely believe in another religion and convert sincerely, a valid marriage can be performed under that personal law.

You haven't mentioned your age and the age of your cousin to determine the applicable sections under the IPC (BNS). Furthermore, marriage among Hindus is governed by the Hindu Marriage Act, and as per its provisions, such a marriage would be void.
