Dear Sir, Within 30 days of bounce of a cheque on whatever ground you can get issue a legal notice and file a cheque bounce case under Section 138 of NI Act. It is criminal case you can recover the amount very easily and if he did not appear before the Court Warrants will be issued against him. First get issue a legal notice immediately otherwise you cannot use it after 30 days.

you can initiate action under both civil and criminal laws for recocery of amount, you have to father all the details before proceeding against your friend relates to transaction, later proceed with the case, so approach any advocate and discuss facts in detail.
