"No external conduct, howsoever serious in its consequences, is generally punished unless the prohibited consequence is produced by some wrongful intent, fault or mens rea". MEANING IN SIMPLE TERMS ????

Mens rea is a legal phrase used to describe the mental state a person must be in while committing a crime for it to be intentional. It can refer to a general intent to break the law or a specific, premeditated plan to commit a particular offense.

Yes, by your act or mens rea you caused any body some harm then you will be held responsible. For example you have stopped talking to your wife and she felt insulted and committed suicide then you will be held punishable for offence of ABETTING SUICIDE under section 306 of IPC.
