False promise of marriage (BNS 69)

10-Jun-2025 (In Criminal Law)
I had friendly chat with girl from my village on WhatsApp I blocked her after her repeated messages. She texted me from 5 numbers after that. When I objected, she threatened to harass me till I commit suicide (I have call recording). On May 28, she apologized. I asked if I ever touched her, met privately, or promised marriage-she said “no” to all. I’ve saved the chat and call recording. I’m still worried-can she file a BNS 69 case? I never met this lady personally, & never promised her marriage

As per the facts provided by you there is no need to worry. Just be alert on any further developments and block her number. Further, if possible change your mobile number as well. However, make note of it nothing stops her from filing a complaint against you under the BNS section because there are a lot of loopholes in your side of the story which she can use to get you in legal trouble.

No offence under the penal law is made out as there was no physical meeting, sexual relationships. However, her threat to harass you can attract a punitive action under BNS. Suggestive, if you preserve the evidence, chat and avoid any further communication.

You don’t have to worry about that you have all things in your favour and if she falsely implicates you then you can seek quashing of FIR. I have done so many cases in this domain and there is no fate of false cases.
