In the context of Indian courts, "CR" can have multiple meanings depending on the nature of the case and the jurisdiction:

  1. Civil Revision (CR): This is the most common meaning in higher courts. It refers to a petition filed to challenge or revise the decision of a lower court in a civil matter, without initiating a full appeal.

  2. Complaint Register Case (CR Case): In magistrate courts, especially in criminal matters, a "CR Case" often refers to a Complaint Registered Case ? one that originates from a private complaint filed directly before a magistrate, rather than an FIR lodged by police. These are typically non-cognizable or private cases.

Cr. means crime. It is a stage before a criminal case is registered. After case is registered it is called CC. Implication - Cr. is the initial stage at the hands of police that matures to pucca CC at the hands of the court. After filing of FIR the Magistrate orders for investigation. Then the police investigate, file documents and charge-sheet when the case attains the stage of CC. Probably the F.I.R. filed in 2013 has become been put up as Crime by the Police and later filed charge sheet. Therefore the same Cr. has become CC now.
