Defamation Case for Using Offensive Insulting Remark Within House

I am living in a joint family with my wife.My uncles wife is oftenly using offensive comments from her room.We are not able to retaliate because they are taking advantage being senior citizen.If I can record her speech by mobile audio recording can I lodge an FIR.I need legal help on this matter .If I want to go for legal action what's the process to move?

You cannot lodge a Defamation case if the entire incident of offensive comments is happening within the periphery of your house. Outsiders are required in front of whom your respect and self esteem is diminished. You can file a case against them for Criminal Intimidation, Outrage of Modesty etc .
