College Fees Fraud [ Additional charges other than the package ]
24-May-2025 (In Criminal Law)
I am a student of private medical college when I took admission they have issued me a admission letter where they have mentioned the total package of the college in 7 lakhs including hostel and mess fee and now when I am in final year they are asking for more 50,000 and not accepting that it was complimentary in the package when the student go to complain or ask they simply tell we can fail you in the university exam in internals. They have harrased us mentally .
you can file complaint letter that a private medical college student can use to raise a grievance regarding unjustified or extra fees being charged. This can be submitted to the college administration, university authorities, State Fee Regulatory Committee, or even the National Medical Commission (NMC) or consumer forum, depending on the case severity.
Option 1- If there are more than one students suffering the same situations then you people may go to the nearest police status and file a complaint jointly.
Option 2- If you people are afraid of risk for filing police complaint then you all can write to owner of your college jointly a mail or whichever mode available for you and ask them to clear this issue.
Based on the facts provided, the demand for an additional Rs. 50,000 beyond the agreed package mentioned in your admission letter appears to be arbitrary and may constitute a breach of contract. If the written agreement clearly includes all fees (hostel, mess, tuition), the institution cannot unilaterally alter the terms. Furthermore, any threats to fail students in internal exams for raising objections may amount to criminal intimidation under Section 506 IPC, and the continued mental harassment could potentially be actionable under provisions related to abuse of authority and student protection laws. You may consider filing a formal complaint with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the relevant state medical education board. Additionally, lodging a complaint with the police or moving a writ petition before the High Court for protection of your rights may also be considered. Retain all relevant documentation including your admission letter, fee receipts, and any communication made by the college.
