CESC filed an FIR for meter tampering wherein I didn't do anything.

23-Jul-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I raised a complaint on 1st July'23 to CESC for the unusual inflated bill amount for the month of June i.e. ₹3000 approx wherein usual amount was ₹1500-₹1800 during summers and we have only one AC. nnCESC inspected our premised twice without informing and seized our meter and handed 2 lacs bill and registered an FIR. Please advise whether I should pay the amount first even though I am not at fault and then register a case against them or what is the other possible action from my end? Please help

if you are disputing the amount then you can immediately file a writ petition. the writ court depending on the merit of your case might grant you a stay in the payment or might ask you to pay a certain percentage. if you apply for bail then you might be asked to deposit a certain percent as well. regards, Tanmoy Chattopadhyay, M.Sc (Net), LL.B (Delhi), Advocate Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
