Can you convict someone for theft /pick pocketing what proof needed

21-Sep-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Can I be charged or convicted of theft / pickpocketing if a person says i have pickpocketed his phone as his phone was there with him and when I left the place phone was not there with him saying I only have done it.And also I was the only one standing next to him at the store. Is it enough proof argument to convict and is this argument enough to prove beyond reasonable doubt

No theft means you don't know wo have done the act, in your case if he says that you have done the same that he has to prove with proof of evidence in regard not only his doubt can make you convict/accused. But in single term engage a good lawyer since starting.
Best of luck ( contact in case of litigation)

There's one thing that the phone owners complains to the police against you for the theft. It's another thing that he manages to gather evidence against you. Circumstantial evidence may point the finger at you but it's not a conclusive evidence. So don't worry.
