Can someone break the engagement and marry someone else

I was compelled to get engaged with death Threats, I want to call this off and marry someone else. Will they file a defamation case

Respected sir/Mam, choosing your partner in absolute right over you. you cannot be compelled or forced to marry any other person when you are not interested to marry her. no one has a right to compel you and you have the absolute right to choose your partner. you can also file a complaint in your jurisdictional police station against the persons who are threatening you
