In criminal case their a specific time duration upon which one should register the FIR one week to 15 days . So filing of FIR is not been applicable here but what are the facts through which you delayed to file the FIR

Yes you can file an f.i.r in the attempt to murder case even after 3-4 years.section 468crpc is limitation for taking cognizance for certain offences and deos not bar these offences only offences in which punishment is less than three years are only time barred.

You may be able to file the FIR but you will have to give a reason for the delay in lodging the said FIR after such a long time. Generally unless you give a good reason for the delay the court considers the delay in FIR as a circumstance against your interest. The FIR may be lodged but the court might not be inclined to look into the offence much.
