Can a RTI activist get protection from police?

under what law in india rti activist will get protection ? can he lodge fir at the place of residence or if information relates to an another police station pl advise
police is bound to protect all citizens of the country without distinguishing on the basic of caste, creed, religion and sex; on the the whole they are public servants and they should act for the public.
now the point is what is the nature of problem for which you need police protection which upon discussion with your lawyer can be informed to the police for your protection, in most cases police doesnot pay heed but there is way to enforce it upon them.

Frankly speaking there is no adequate enactments available presently to safeguard the RTI activists, though the Central Govt is thinking of bringing a law which will safeguard the RTI Activist.I dnt think the Police Station will lodge a Fir which relates to information to another Police Station. So it's better to lodge a complain to the Higher Police Official.
