Can a complaint be filed against Adult Muslim girl if she runs away?

20-Oct-2023 (In Criminal Law)
If a Muslim girl(DOB-16/12/1999) runs away from her house just after completing 18 years of age(like her 18th birthday is in December 2017 and she run away in January 2018) without stealing anything? Will that be considered illegal. The reason behind leaving her house is pressure made by her parents for marriage which is in March 2018. Will police file a missing complaint or any other complaint by her parents to find her?

There is nothing illegal if she leaves with her own will. But the parents will be at liberty to file a missing complaint. If they suspect someone they may even file a kidnapping complaint. Moreover they can directly approach the high court that their daughter is missing. Whether she left voluntarily or not will be seen during investigation. But if it is found out that she left voluntarily ideally as per law no action should be taken against her.

A complaint may definitely be filled against anyone who goes missing irrespective of the age, because the police does not know that you have deliberately run away. So, they'll consider every possibility of your being in trouble.
