Brother-in-law's fiance filed a false dowry case against the brother

I lives in hyderabad along-with my wife. My wife is native of bhopal. My brother in law marriage broken 5 days before the schedule date (scheduled at bhopal) due to differences with his would be wife. To take avenge of this, girl side party filed a false dowry FIR naming my brother in law, his mother, his father and his sister i.e. my wife, there was not any money transaction in this marriage. How serious is this case.
Generally police donot register a fir in ipc 498 first investigation team a directed to see and investigate the fact and if found guilty then only fir is made.so be calm now and coordinate with police to investigate the fact

No need to worry. As per Supreme court ruling, u/s 498A .police can't arrest on FIR basis only. very first police will take it under investigation and if it is found false complaint then they will not proceed the same. In this case, you can file a case of defamation against the girl and her side supporting peoples

The case is not at all serious. Now a days it became a general practice that whenever a marital dispute arises the girl takes wrong advantage of the provisions of law which have been made for women's safety. What sections have been charged against your wife? I Think they must be under section-498A IPC or under Dowry Prohibition Act. Recently the honourable Supreme Court has issued guidelines for police that they should not directly make arrest in 498A IPC cases. So police will first investigate into the case. If your wife has been falsely implicated, police will not proceed against her. However you should be ready for her bail and also you may apply for anticipatory bail.
