Boyfriend lied*****************"*

23-Dec-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I was dating my boy friend since Nov 2019. We had fights but later, we resolve it and come together again. We were physical involved as well. With the course of time he started giving me cold responses and said that we can't be together as I have to move ahead with career (as he is in army ) I will not date anyone and will die for my country. I wantd to give him space as he was very tensed with his family issues and I was under the impression that he will be fine with time. Pandemic started and I went to my home town. Within 3 months time he did engagement with a different girl and getting married in Jan 2021. He cheated on me. I felt so humiliated as everyone saw his engagement picture and started questioning me. I did apply to restrain his marriage by filing civil case but it got rejected stating that they have alredy done engagement and I hvnt done. I hv all the proofs that we were together. What can I do to stop this marriage :(

file an FIR against him that's the best you can do if you feel cheated or raped. Civil court cannot stop the marriage as the same is not within there perview. but filling FIR also has stigma, if you are independent and free you can file FIR otherwise no civil application lies.

File an FIR (First Information Report) against him on the lines of cheating and rape charges of Indian Penal Code. Try to contact the girl with whom she is marrying tell her the whole story and ask her not to marry him On your FIR he may be arrested by the civil police which could be be a big blot on his confidentiality report remarks

If he had made fake promises to get married in order to have intercourse with you, you can file an FIR under Section 376 (i)(n) : Having continuous intercourse on the pretext of getting married. However, if he had not made any such promises and you fail to prove, then no case would be made after a Supreme Court judgment of August 2018.
