Borrowed our car, gave it to someone else who is not returning it

20-May-2023 (In Criminal Law)
My sister's husband borrowed my father's car for a week on 22nd March, he hasn't returned the car since. After asking him we came to know that he has given the car to someone he owed some money. He has said he will the return the car this coming Thursday, however we are not sure about that. This person is of very dangerous nature, and has nothing to lose as he is in debt, and we think if we file FIR, he'll resort to violence. Please help.

The only way out is to settle amicably within the time frame. If you cannot afford time, then lodge police complaint giving the real story. The only way out is to settle amicably within the time frame. If you cannot afford time, then lodge police complaint giving the real story.

AS YOU HAVE STATED THAT YOUR SISTERS HUSBAND IS VERY DANGEROUS, YOU SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT IN REGARD TO THE VEHICLE , SO THAT IF SOME CRIME OR MISCHIEF IS DONE USING YOUR VEHICLE YOUR FATHER IS SAFE IN THAT CASE. FURTHER IF HE RESORT TO VIOLENCE YOU CAN COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME .

If you do not want to file FIR how can any one help you?You have to file police case against your Jijaji and the Unknown person or you can ask your Jijaji to file case against that person for the harassment .Or simply you go to that person ask him to return your car or simple go to his house and with the duplicate key bring your car back
