Bill Book Misplaced, Authenticity Check Notice Issued

30-Sep-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I own a retail outlet. I have been issued a notice from a police station demanding a duplicate copy of a bill number to validate the original bill given by the victim. The victim had a theft in their house. This bill in question is 4 years old. The victim is my customer and I can visibly confirm by it's hand writing from original bill that it was issued from our end itself. The bill book in question is misplaced from our end somehow. As it's a manually written bill we have no other records.

Dear Sir, You may submit similar statement saying that you have misplaced the duplicate bill book due to lapse of four years. Even public authorities in many cases are allow to destroy the old records of three years. Police cannot do against you. If any FIR is registered then immediately go to the High Court and get stay of investigation then it will be quashed.
