Bike seized due to drunk driving by mechanic

Hello Sir/Madam,
I had given my bike for service (in Bangalore) and the mechanic got caught with my bike for drunk driving and since the mechanic did not have money, I was told by the police to pay the fine in court. He either lost his DL or did not have one at that time. Within the next 2-3 days, the mechanic absconded (without any trace of mobile number). Since I owned another bike, I also didn't bother with the seized bike. This happened about 2-3 years ago. I do not want to be involved in any issues that may arise in future and want to close this issue before I move out of Bangalore. Please suggest further course of action. Thanks.

firstly go the police station and enquire whether any case is booked against the driver mechanic and you for handing your vehicle to person who does not have Dl, then engage a lawyer pay your part of fine, if you have the registration papers and insurance of the vehicle then apply for release of vehicle and get it, your case will be closed, but the case against the driver will remain till he comes to court and face the trial or pay the fine amount.
