BNS Section 118 addresses voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means. Section 118(1) Punishes those who inflict hurt with dangerous instruments (e.g., knives, fire, poison) with up to three years imprisonment or a fine of up to twenty thousand rupees. Exceptions exist for self-defense under Section 122, and the offense is bailable for Section 118(1)
