Circumstances copy right violation of academic books and magzines

30-Jun-2023 (In Trademark & Copyright Law)
Respected Sir/madam, I have thought to start a small start up. The start up is purchasing academic books from wholesaler or concerned authors and providing it to the students as rental basis for particular period of time and we recollect it back. My question is providing books as rental basis is an legal business? Is any copy right violation? Shall we take permission from authors for doing so? Thank you..

Kindly note that a license and or consent needs to be obtained from the author of the books or any thrid party authorised to provide such license for renting the books. In the absence of such permission the same will be construed as infringement of copyright under the the Copyright Act, 1957
