What action can be taken against packers who lost an item

We hired packers for transportation for Total 14 items from Chennai to Hyderabad on 6th July 2018. 8 th July we recieved total of 13 items and one item Onida Led TV 24 Inch is missing( Worth 14,500 only). If we ask packers , they said TV is old. we will give less amount and again told as per insurance policy will give money But they are not redy to tell how much amount will give Then I told we will complete then, he told " kya ukhad loge ukhad lo". kindly suggest what should be done in this situation:?
If you have organised your move through a standard Packers and Movers you will be in a position for file a complaint at consumer forum.
While referring to Standard Packers and Movers I mean that they provide you the following set of documents.
Quotation - Price of the move. (Including the Breakup in quotation for you to see through is a boon)
PACKING LIST - List of goods packed. Each carton box will be numbered and the packing list in-turn should display all the items in it. Which includes the number of cartoons packed.
Loading Report - Number of Cartons Loaded at the Origin.
Unloading Report - Number of Cartons Unloaded at the Destination.
Out Turn Report - The report which seeks the customers feedback. This report is actually used by Packers and Movers to showcase their work and get more business at times when questioned about quality.
Once you have the PACKING LIST with you which is duly signed by the Customer and the Operations Executive at the Origin it actually becomes and agreement between the CUSTOMER and the Packing company. This makes the Packing company LIABLE in case there are any missing items.

File a complaint in the jurisdictional consumer forum where the main/branch office of the packers is located or where the cause of action arose to file the complaint. In the complaint, mention your grounds and demand the dues along with the interest amount to be calculated from the date of booking the consignment till the date of realization of dues. Further, demand compensation from the packers towards damages for mental harassment.
