Misleading advertisement and delay in closure of credit card

08-Dec-2025 (In Consumer Court Law)
Sent an email to close my credit card , bank ignore for 2 months, sent second remainder and they have closed the card. As per rbio guidelines, 500 per day should be paid by bank for delayed closure. Bank said my ip was blocked in their system and cannot offer compensation. Rbio has stated the same and closed my complaint. But it's a clear service fault at bank side not my end. As per rbio , customer cannot be held responsible for banks internal service failures. Rbio haven't investigate the fact

Your case squarely falls under deficiency in service and unfair trade practice as defined under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Once you submitted a written request/email for closure of the credit card, the bank is legally bound to process it within the stipulated time. The RBI guidelines clearly mandate that ₹500 per day compensation is payable for delay attributable to the bank. An internal technical issue, including IP blocking or backend system faults, cannot be cited to deny compensation. Such reasons are purely administrative lapses on the bank’s part and cannot prejudice your statutory rights. If the RBI Ombudsman has closed the complaint without proper investigation, you are entitled to file a detailed complaint before the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission seeking (i) compensation as per RBI directions, (ii) additional compensation for mental agony and inconvenience, and (iii) litigation costs. The judicial forums have consistently held that customers cannot be penalized for systemic failures of banks. You have a clear, enforceable claim. Proceed with a consumer complaint and the bank will be compelled to justify its stand with documentary proof—mere verbal excuses will not sustain in law.

hi if they are not offering or returning the compensation then you could file petition in consumer forum seeking compensation and other losses by sending initial legal notice and then if they had not responded properly then you could approach court
