EVENT MANAGEMENT SERVICE DISCREPENCIES

26-Feb-2026 (In Consumer Court Law)
I had organized a small family event for a client for his Daughter's Rice Ceremony. Services included Decoration, Catering, Celebration Cake and Photography. Client was very happy with execution and had availed extra services outside contract for which he is not paying . Now he has lodged a complaint in Consumer Affairs Department against me saying he has issues since AI was used for editing and it invaded his privacy , but contract didn't specify any tools for edit. What am I to do now?

as it can be perceived that your client is avoiding the payment and for that he has approached the consumer forum on this ground. you need to give your version in the forum and contest it. whether AI was used or something else, that cannot concern the client and secondly, he did not make any addition to the agreement which he is now claiming. complaint and other documents are to be seen

Dear Client, Deficiency in service and invasion of privacy are two different issues and distinct in nature. While deficiency in service comes under the ambit of CPA, breach or invasion of privacy attracts civil suits. So, complaint before CAD would not stand once you raise an objection before the authority. Moreover, in the absence of specific terms in the contract, civil suits may be rejected if it is defended properly and judiciously.
